MUSIC
WRITTEN BETWEEN THE AGES OF FOURTEEN AND
VERBAL ALTERATIONS.
Can still each mental storm, each tumult calm,
And e'en fierce Anger's furious rage disarm.

To cheer the soul when tired with human strife,
And soften down the rugged road of life.

For I, confined in gloomy school,
And far from sylvan shades and bowers,
There con the scholiast's dreary lines,
And close to rugged learning cling,
How gladly would my soul forego
Or stiff grammarians quaintly teach,
To taste each morn of all the joys
