Artiodactyla : Artiodactyl
Artiodactyls are ungulates whose weight is borne about equally by the third and fourth toes, rather than mostly or entirely by the third as in perissodactyls. There are 220 artiodactyl species. All kosher mammals are Ruminantia. Tylopoda walk on pads on the toes (the name means "padfoot") and are therefore considered not to have true hooves; but they are halal. Pigs do not ruminate and are considered unclean by both Judaism and Islam.
