Balen is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Balen proper and Olmen[?]. On January 1st, 2000 Balen had a total population of 19,290 (9,760 males and 9,530 females). The total area is 73.12 km² which gives a population density of 263.81 inhabitants per km².
