GrapplingGrappling is an element of many martial arts, and consist of techniques for handling the opponent in very close quarters. This includes winning position (for example guard or mount), takedowns[?] and various pins[?] and joint lock or pain locks. Grappling may be engaged in either standing or on the ground, although many standing techniques are takedowns, and thus used for forcing the opponent to an unfavourable position on the ground.Throws[?] are considered grappling in some martial arts, whereas other arts consider them extensions of strikes or kicks. By order.html">order of General Sturgis, signed
In his disastrous fall,
And glorified his pall,
This order, issued amid the gloom

But somewhere in the eternal plan

The scheme of the heavenly powers;
The echoes of that far fight,
Through the shades of the severing night.
No fear for them! In our lower field
That at last we be worthy to stand with them
We shall meet and greet in closing ranks
When the bugles of God shall sound recall
My dearest wish would be,
But take them all on me;
That never a tear might flow
If Heaven might grant it so;
But smiles each other chase
