Wyoming is a city located in Kent County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 69,368.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 63.5 km² (24.5 mi²). 63.2 km² (24.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.37% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 69,368 people, 26,536 households, and 17,540 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,096.8/km² (2,840.1/mi²). There are 27,506 housing units at an average density of 434.9/km² (1,126.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 84.32% White, 4.85% African American, 0.59% Native American, 2.92% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 4.70% from other races, and 2.59% from two or more races. 9.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.There are 26,536 households out of which 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 12.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.9% are non-families. 26.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.19.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 33.7% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
